ตุรกีเปิดตัววีซ่า Digital Nomad!

In some big news that came out of mid-April 2024, the country of Turkey had been working on releasing its latest and greatest visa solution: a Digital Nomad Visa.

This is great news for all those nomads who, until now, had wished to try remote working in Turkey but faced some obstacles in obtaining a Short-Term residence permit. In fact, the visa landscape in Turkey has been creating some hitches for people staying longer, while traditional avenues to residence, like Tourist Short-term residence permits, have become more strict in terms of requirements needed and the rate of rejections has risen.

But the new Digital Nomad visa also brings its own list of eligibility requirements; therefore, let’s dive into them and see whether you apply or not!

Who does this visa address?

This still-brand-new visa targets digital nomads who would like to establish their remote offices in Turkey.

First of all, there is the need to indicate your nationality. The following countries’ citizens are invited: France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland, Denmark, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Bulgaria, Romania, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, United Kingdom, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Belarus.

Whether you are a seasoned freelancer, a remote employee, or an entrepreneur, as long as you are between 21 and 55 years old and make at least $36,000 USD every year from remote work, you can apply!

Excellent, I qualify! What next?

The application process is pretty straightforward:

  • Digital Nomad Certificate: First, apply online for a Digital Nomad Certificate. This step represents the precursor to applying for the visa.
  • Applying for a Visa: Once you are armed with this certificate, you can approach the local Turkish Embassy or Consulate or Visa Center in your home country and initiate the process for your visa application. If you find yourself already in Turkey, fear not: you can apply as a digital nomad for a residence permit through the government’s online portal, then attend an in-person appointment at your local Provincial Migration Management Office.
The Future Ahead

While the Turkey Digital Nomad Visa is still very fresh, its potential for attracting remote workers from every corner of the world can’t be denied. As more information trickles in over the coming weeks and months, aspirant digital nomads will keep themselves abreast of updates about eligibility, application procedures, and other matters related to the overall nomad experience in Turkey.
